StitchFix

A friend of mine introduced me to “StitchFix“, an online store that assembles your style preferences and sends clothes and accessories based on your “likes” straight to your door. Perfect for people who hate shopping or (as I see it) love getting a surprise in the mail! They also attach a little tag with additional outfit ideas based on what you bought. What a great idea!

They break it down into 3 steps:

  1. Style Profile: Take our fun style survey to help us understand your size and fashion preferences so we can pick the right things for your body, personal style, and life!
  2. Get your Fix: Trend-forward, beautiful clothes and accessories from the latest and greatest designers and brands arrive at your door as often as once a month.
  3. Fashion Show: Shop everything at home– your mirror, your favorite skinny jeans, and all of the shoes in your closet. Keep what you love, send back what you don’t. Easy

You Style The Day – Bubble Gum Babe

Move along little black dress … step aside khakis … this post is reserved for COLOR ONLY!  I gotta admit, I am a little color crazy lately and apparently Trish is too! This is neon-tastic. I LOVE IT! Thanks for sharing!

Trish, pretty in pink

Trish Says: This outfit is just so FUN . . . I love the bright pink skirt with the pastel colours of the tee. The belt? It was a ribbon wrapped around a gift from my husband. It was too pretty to throw away, so now it’s a belt!!

Fashion That Makes a Difference … Bit By Bit

USING FASHION AND DESIGN TO EMPOWER WOMEN TO RISE ABOVE POVERTY.

I found out about 31 Bits on the good old news. (Finally, something positive to report on!) I made a bee line for the computer to see what they were all about and I was excited by what I saw. 31 Bits purchases handmade jewelry from women in Gulu, Uganda, which provides them with an immediate, consistent, and fair income. The profits made from the international market place go towards programs run by 31 Bits that provide the women with numerous development programs, equipping them to develop a career, earn an instant income, and provide a home, food, and education for their families. So, next time you wanna shop, shop with a conscience at 31 Bits. It’s stylish, it’s affordable and most importantly, you’ll be helping empower women on the other side of the globe!

About 31 BitsKallie Dovel, traveled to Uganda in the summer of 2007, getting a first- hand look at life in Northern Uganda. While she was there, she met women making paper beads but who lacked a plan to market and sell them. After spending time in their homes and hearing their stories, Kallie knew there had to be a way to give opportunities to her new friends. She brought a box of jewelry back to the U.S., and spent the next year finishing her degree and dreaming up the concept of a development organization. She brought a few friends on board and her ideas quickly evolved into 31 Bits. The girls traveled back to Uganda in August 2008, and selected six women to begin buying jewelry from on a monthly basis. Since then, we have grown to 99 women; each with a unique story of suffering that has been overcome with joy and liberation.

Window Shopping

While strolling down Melrose Ave. this past weekend I wandered past a store front with the cutest ensemble. Had to snap a photo and share. I could probably do without the cross necklace, but the shirt and shorts are adorable! What do you think?

You Style The Day – Jennipher: Pretty in Purple

When the “long in the back, short in the front” dresses first started making an appearance on the streets I wasn’t sure I liked them, until this one…

Today, Jennipher ( with a “PH” ) is showing off a piece that is so sheer, light and loose-fitting, perfect for those hot summer days (which we’ve all been experiencing in excess lately)! This piece could be used so many different ways. Here it’s show with a similar colored longer tank underneath, but I would also love to see it as a sheer bathing suit cover up! I love the combination of Jennipher’s red hair and the purple of the dress. The gold sparkly belt ties the entire look together and the shoes give it a little extra umph! Beautiful!

Ascot Scarf As Wrist Wear

Ascot Scarf As Wrist Wear

There are tons of fun ways to tie, wrap and wear an ascot. I always find them slightly uncomfortable to wear around the neck so I wrap mine around my wrist!

If there’s one thing my mom loves it’s sparkle, and today she is sharing a look that I just LOVE! Color and sparkles all rolled into one … along with a pina colada accessory, YUM! What a fun way to dress up a pair of shorts. Thanks for sharing!

I’m starting a new category called “This Outfit 3 Ways”. I’ll take one piece from my closet and show you 3 different, simple ways to change it up!

Over the weekend I was inspired by a striped dress I saw with a yellow belt. I headed into my closet to see what I could find and voila! I had all the right pieces all along and never thought to put them together. Here’s the final outcome along with 2 other fun ways to change-up a striped dress.
